Lighting:

We utilize a combination of T5 and LED lighting through ATI Hybrid fixtures and LED bars.

Flow:

For flow, we primarily use Tunze powerheads (Stream 3 and Turbelle 6105) connected to a Tunze Multicontroller, achieving about 80-100 times turnover per hour( including the return pumps ).

Filtration:

We do not use sand in our display aquariums. All of our systems have a bare-bottom design. However, we do have sand in the sumps. Our biological filtration relies on a substantial amount of old, matured live rock. Each system is equipped with a display refugium that houses utilitarian fish, zoanthid colonies, and macroalgae. This setup allows us to feed our fish every hour while maintaining low nutrient levels. We utilize Tunze skimmers set to wet skimming, producing approximately one cup of skimmate per day.

Dosing and Maintenance:

We maintain calcium and alkalinity in our system using a two-part dosing method, which consists of sodium carbonate and calcium chloride. Additionally, we dose Kalkwasser nightly from 11 PM to 8 AM. For salt, we use Tropic Marin. For trace elements, we use Fauna Marin and Salifert Trace Hard, dosing at a rate of 1 mL per 100 liters per day. Iodine, using Seachem Iodide, is added daily at a rate of one drop per 100 liters. We believe in the importance of daily supplementation of Iodine, Manganese, Cobalt, Chromium, Iron, Selenium, Zinc, Fluoride, and Vanadium. These elements are provided through Fauna Marin Trace 1, 2, and 3, as well as Salifert Trace Hard, but they can also be dosed individually if preferred. We conduct monthly ICP testing through Fauna Marin. We do not use any other methods or additives. Our water parameters closely resemble those of natural seawater (NSW), so adjustments needed for our customers’ systems are likely to be minimal. Even if there are slight differences, it shouldn’t pose a significant issue. The corals in our care can and will adapt, as they have done over time. We prioritize stability above all else.
